Teiči is one of the largest raised bog complexes in the Baltics; almost untouched by human activity. Teiči Nature Reserve is an internationally recognized site for migratory and nesting waterfowl. Several thousands of migrating geese and cranes join the local ones in spring and autumn. There are several forested islands in the bog, including Siksala – a truly unique place. It is an island literally in the middle of the bog developed as a settlement of Russian Old Believers.

For more information, please visit the Teiči Nature Reserve webpage (daba.gov.lv).
